[Note: This ain't the post I've been working on lately. This is just a random poem I wrote today. I kind of like it, though I'm sure when I reread it in the morning, I'm gonna find several things that'll make me cringe pretty hard. Yeah, this post should tide you over for a minute. Not that my upcoming post is anything too special. It's just about music I like, is all, so don't get all your expectations too high. I ain't like those other blogs and xangas that get all serious and junk. I give you service with a smirk.]

This Is Time

What is time?

Time is a relative concept
Relatively speaking, it denotes every onset
Alarm clocks please stop beeping, no one wants to pawn it
It is precious, a treasure that’s all but relevant
It’s a metaphor for the things in life that are valuable
Humans don’t take it lightly at our leisure
Though at times it’s hard to differentiate time from pleasure
I heard an adage that should be taken with salt of some measure

A wise man once told me, Time Is Money
Time is the essence of wealth
And I realize people spend time like they flaunt their wealth
And it’s like their health depends upon how much they want
To be able to spend and earn
They sit on their ends and yearn
For more money is time and time is more money
It ain’t even funny that this ain’t held in question
But we know it’s straight misdirection, just lies
But what about truth? Now try this on for size

Look, I ain’t a wise man
I don’t even know if I’m wise
But sometimes I just sit around and it’s all I can do, is sigh
At people’s attitudes in our culture
My stomach churns at the thought of the future
And, I don’t know, it burns me that this is in our nature
But there’s got to be more to life than money
Why we even got to tell ourselves that time is money?
I might agree that time is the essence of wealth
Just like I agree we can flaunt our good health
But that doesn’t mean time is money

Time isn’t money
It’s the number of days you take off to spend with your honey
Time isn’t money
It’s the place you go to on your real life journey
Time isn’t money
It’s all the things you do before you end up on a gurney
Time isn’t money
It’s enjoying a bite outta a steak, so hearty and sinewy
Time isn’t money
It’s forgiving that kid in third grade who called you a dummy
Time isn’t money
It’s looking 0ut your window and smiling whether it’s rainy or sunny
Time isn’t money
It’s raising your hands to the Almighty and singing, Create In Me

Time is a lot of things
But it sure ain’t money
Time is a relative concept
Relatively speaking

The next post is a work in progress. I've been working on it, but it's unfinished. I figure if you're hardcore enough to check my site, then you deserve a little heads-up.
