"Perfect" is still one of my favorite words of all time. Peace out, baby. Thursday, July 25, 2002 Today is the greatest Day I've ever known Can't live for tomorrow, Tomorrow's much too long I'll burn my eyes out Before I get out I wanted more Than life could ever grant me Bored by the chore Of saving face Today is the greatest Day I've ever known Can't wait for tomorrow I might not have that long I'll tear my heart out Before I get out Pink ribbon scars That never forget I tried so hard To cleanse these regrets My angel wings Were bruised and restrained My belly stings Today is Today is Today is The greatest day I want to turn you on I want to turn you on I want to turn you on I want to turn you Today is the greatest Today is the greatest day Today is the greatest day That I have ever really known -"Today," The Smashing Pumpkins Classic. Ninjas are very cool. I wish I had ninja skills. That would be totally righteous bad, yeah! www.realultimatepower.net A sight/site for all of us geeks. My only complaint? By treating the novels as canon, one must accept the crap Kevin J. Anderson "wrote" (in the loosest sense of the word). www.stardestroyer.net Great Teacher Onizuka Drama- Good stuff. "Don't you ever call my students 'trash.'" "Trash?? The only trash I see around here... is YOU." "Hey, wanna be a pop idol?" "I only have one policy... I am a teacher!" "Hey! My life depends on those [porno videos]!" "GREAT!" Hahaha, man I love that show. It was GREAT. Road To Perdition- a dang good movie. Minority Report- almost life-changing. Why is it so hard to use the phone and call my friends? I still don't like math. The '80s are making a comeback. GI Joe has a new comic and new toys. Transformers have new comics, new toys, and a new series. He-Man is getting a new show. "Yo JOE!!" "Autobots, transform and roll out!" "By the power of Grayskull! I... am... HE-MAN!!!" "I need help and you're way across the sea." -Weezer Orson Scott Card is STILL the man. Get yourself to a library, quickstyle. Calvin And Hobbes. A classic that will never die. But Get Fuzzy and The Boondocks are almost as good. Wednesday, July 24, 2002 The End Is The Beginning Is The End. Wednesday, July 17, 2002 Comic books rock. My favorites, in no special order. Inhumans Batman: The Dark Knight Returns Batman: A Long Halloween Batman: Dark Victory Batman: Year One Watchmen Kingdom Come Earth X Daredevil: Yellow Wolverine: Origin Thursday, July 11, 2002 Ender's Shadow. Undeniably contains the most emotionally powerful experience I have ever read in any work of literature (well, except for the Bible). Proof that the same series of events seen through another perspective is a whole new story. I cried. But don't tell nobody. Wednesday, July 10, 2002 Random Jots It's hard to update an online journal when you don't go online. I suppose I could type something up in Word and then copy and paste, but I didn't. So it's hard. Ender will save us all. Hoobastank sounds too much like Incubus. It's enough that their music totally apes Incubus' melodic hard rock, but the singer from Hoobastank even sounds like Brandon Boyd. It's like how many brothers can Boyd have? His brother is singer for Audiovent, did he have a twin who founded Hoobstank? (Silly name.) I've started writing my fantasy epic. Just writing down my backstory and profiles and such, so I'll have a set universe in my mind when I start writing for real. I will never post my stuff online though, I wouldn't want some snot nosed punk to accidentally stumble upon it and steal my ideas. That reminds me to try to come up with my own truly unique ideas. It's hard being creative, it's even harder being original. You know what they say, "Since the dawn of time there have only been seven books ever written. Everything else is a thinly veiled rewrite." Well, okay, I made part of that up, but I'm pretty sure I've heard that somewhere. If anyone cares to hear/read my ideas/what I have so far, let me know. Maybe you can help inspire me. I've been going to the library once a week since I got back from Davis. My old high school friends think I'm some kind of freak because I read for fun. I think I've discovered my new favorite author. His name is Orson Scott Card, and he is a literary genius. On a whim, I borrowed his book Enchantment because I was in a whimsical mood, I guess. His prose flows very smoothly. The narration is never too wordy or too barren, and the dialogue is believable. He brings characters to life in a way I haven't read since probably Dan Simmons' Hyperion Saga. Anyway, you should read Enchantment if you ever get a chance. It's only like three or four hundred pages, you can finish it in a day or two. You know how all those fairy tales end after the prince wakes up Sleeping Beauty or whatever and they end up living happily ever after? Enchantment is a whole new take on these fairy tales, except that it's serious and... Look, just read the book, it's far more ingenius than I put it. Lately I have been listening to a lot of Smashing Pumpkins. I got their albums Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness (double disc goodness) and Siamese Dream. They rock. I like them a lot. I just never started listening to them much until recently. I've also been listening to The Get Up Kids and The Juliana Theory. (Indie-rock/emo/power pop.) And Kasey Chambers. I think she's a pretty good singer and she has some pretty good songs. Also a must-read: Orson Scott Card's novel Ender's Game. If you don't read Enchantment, at least pick up this science fiction novel. Ender's Game is definitely science fiction for people who don't like science fiction. Well, let me put it this way. Ender's Game is The Lord Of The Flies squared. At its heart, Ender's Game is a story about human nature. Of course, it's exceptionally well written, in a highly accessible way. You should read Card's intro to the book. He says something about how he tried to write it as clearly as possible, and because so many people could understand the book, critics were upset. Heh. Because people who spend their lives studying how to analyze incomprehensible texts think that anything the general public can understand is crap. So to admit Card's book is good would cheapen many English teachers' existences. Just go read Ender's Game, even if you don't want to read Enchantment or anything. I'm so serious. It's freaking good. It will change your life, guaranteed or your money back. Weezer's Pinkerton is an awesome album. "Across The Sea" is such a nice melancholy song. Maybe I should get a new nickname. Not that Dru/Drew is getting old or anything, but I was just thinking... The main character in Ender's Game is named Andrew, but HIS nickname is Ender. That's so much more unique and cool than Drew. So start calling me Ender. I'm The Finisher. I finish things off. You know, like how The Punisher punishes punks? (Woo, I like that alliteration.) Mmm. It's about time Ender ENDS this entry. Hahahaha, get it? Ender? Ends? Entry? Maybe I forget about writing my epic and just go start my own comedy show. "Late Night With Ender." Okay okay okay that was awful. The End. |
