What the crud is up with my bike?!

First, on Saturday, I somehow busted my rear tube. Then yesterday, I had to waste HECKA time going back and forth to buy the right size tube. And today, I found TONS of ants crawling all over it!! WTC?! [WTC=What The Crud (I made it up)] There were so many ants all over the right handlebar, ants all over the frame... I think they got there when I turned my bike upside down yesterday while trying to fix it. I've noticed ants crawling out from the little slits and stuff. So annoying.

Yo. It's already 23:08 right now. I need to write a bit before I can do some more homework.

So today my roommate helped me replace my rear tube on my bike (much props to ya, DKRaccoon. You stink at Starcraft but you rock.) I can't believe I wasted so much time though. Yesterday I went to Bike Barn (that on-campus bike shop) and asked for a tube. The guy looked at my tire and sold me a tube he said was the right size. Guess what? Today when I tried it, it didn't fit, it was too big. So my roommate and I hiked our butts across the street and went to Rite Aid and I bought another tube. Then we walked back to our building, only to discover the tube was the wrong size. So we went back and exchanged it. Finally, it worked. But this whole process wasted at least 90-100 minutes of our lives. Can you believe that? I guess next time I'll just not bust a tube.

If you've been following along my logs since the beginning (or if you've checked out the archives), you may have noticed that the tone and perspective are varied. Why is that? Why is it that sometimes I write without mentioning the first person at all? Why is it that sometimes I do? I don't know. Actually I think I was planning to right all my entries in the subdued tone of my first couple of entries, but somewhere along the line I forgot my plan, so here we go! Land of the inconsistencies! Hahaha! Well it's all good. If you're reading this, you're probably used to reading a lot of random crap anyway. This is all just stuff that runs through my head every once in a while. I donno, I guess sometimes I'm "i-N-s-A-n-E." (Here's a :pwned. You know who you are.)

I heard tomorrow is Halloween. Is Halloween evil? I don't think so. I've heard a lot of Christians say we shouldn't celebrate it by trick or treating, etc because it's Satan's day. I've also heard Christians say that it's just a marketing gimmick, a commercial "holiday." I think Halloween has its roots in some Satanic rituals or crap, but still. Over the years it's just become like Christmas, over-commercialized and stuff. I mean, I bet most every nonChristian person celebrates "Christmas." But does it mean they believe there's something to actually CELEBRATE? Probably not, and it's the same thing with Halloween. It's just a day where little kids can go dress up as a Mighty Morphin' Power Ranger and get some candy. So have fun, kids. Peace out.
Shucks, I was planning on writing something more meaningful tonight but it seems that I'm too distracted by various other things I've installed on my new computer. Sorry! Heheh.

You know, whenever I'm in class daydreaming and ignoring the lecture/discussion, I often find myself having profound thoughts. Like deep philosophical stuff that could possibly change people, if not the world, I'm serious!!! But what sucks is that when I get back to my room, I forget all that good stuff I just dreamt up. I was planning to add all this good stuff to these log entries, but dang it!! I guess I didn't let my musings transfer into my long term memory. It always feels like I'm gonna add a lot of deep thoughts to this blog, but usually I forget what I wanted to write. I suppose that's one of the main reasons I write so much about Street Fighter.

Lately though, since the day I moved up to Davis, I've been carrying a little pocket journal around so I could record my thoughts/feelings/experiences throughout the day. At first, I was doing pretty well, but again, recently I've just been jotting little beans, like, "Oh, I spent two hours at the arcade and spent one dollar." I'm just so bad at this stuff. But then again, I wonder who reads this crap in the first place? If you're reading this, send me a line at altan@ucdavis.edu or ZephyranthesFullBurner@juno.com. Please. I'd really like to know if anyone reads this at all. Well, maybe when I die a lot of people will read this stuff. Of course, that's assuming Blogger doesn't delete this space.

On a lighter note, the other day (Saturday), I was on my bike trying to impress my friends by hopping a curb. Now I've got a busted rear tube that needs to be fixed. Already bought the tube, but I need someone to show me how to fix this thing (the guy at the shop said I'd have to wait til Thursday if I wanted them to fix it for me, and I was too lazy to wait. 10 minutes after I bought the tube I realized I was too lazy to install the tube myself. ::sighs:: It's tough being me...). Let's see... I was gonna give an important lesson after telling you about my foolish action, but after I wrote the stuff in parantheses I forgot entirely what the moral of the story was going to be. Shoot. Oh well.

Ya know, I almost forgot how fun it was to record stuff in The Journal. In a way, this is sort of cathartic. Ha!!! Take that, Camus. Look who's not living purely in the moment?! Boo-ya!!! Sisyphus? Psht, sissy is more like it!!! Examine all these writings and tell me you do not find deep meaning and powerful messages!!! (Really, before reading this, did you know it was possible that someone who's supposedly so "lazy" takes so much time to write crap almost no one reads? I'm a living paradox, baby!)

Peace out!

I'm back.

Yeah, so lately, I've been playing a lot of Street Fighter. The competition here is very strong. I've seen a lot of deadly Magneto/Storm/Psylocke users here. At Alpha 3, Guy-A, Sakura-V, Sodom-V, Akuma-V, Gen-A, and Ryu-V are probably the most popular. I've seen the dominance of variable combos. There's this one guy I saw do a 40 hit v-combo using V-Ryu. Basically, it's towards+forward kick, any normal attack except for crouching roundhouse, fierce blue fireball, repeat until the meter is just about used up. Then, when there's only a small amount of time in v-combo mode left, perform a short kick Hurricane Kick or jab Dragon Punch, and use the crouch-canceling technique to juggle until you get tired. Very difficult combo to perform without a joystick, I can't get close to doing it with a PSX Dual Shock. I usually get schooled at Alpha 3 at the arcade...

At MvC2 I'm doing alright. Although I routinely get butt-whooped by the same guys over and over again (especially Magneto/Storm/Psylocke and Cable users), my skills have improved a lot compared to 4 weeks ago. I am okay at doing Cammy's 40% basic combo (chain combo, launch, chain combo, roundhouse Cannon Drill cancelled into Killer Bee Assault) and Sentinel's semi-infinite (standing/crouching fierce cancelled into Hyper Sentinel Force, fierce, HSF, etc.). Can you believe I got buttwhooped by a little kid (at least he looks like a little kid) who's shorter than my neck and is very pudgy? He used Storm tactics on me, the same stuff the experts I played used. Man.

At least at Capcom Vs SNK I have a better chance. Yeah, I know, CvS2 is out, but we ain't got it here, we don't even have CvS Pro. But a lot of people still play CvS. I'm pretty alright using Blanka/Yamazaki. Blanka is easy to use, he's fast, and he has monster reach. His level 2 and 3 Rolling Thunder super has great anti-air priority to mess up overconfident opponents who jump at me when I'm getting up. Blanka is a very powerful ratio 1 character. He can play offensively and defensively. Yamazaki, on the other hand, is a great defensive character. I usually like to use Blanka to attack and build meter, and when Yamazaki finally comes in, he's got at least level 2. And with his defensive style, the dynamics of the match change, with the other guy sort of expecting me to rush him down. I take advantage of his strong normal attacks to punish stupid whiffed moves against me. His supers are both very useful. One is very strong anti-air, the other is a command grab that cannot be blocked or teched out of. Blanka/Dhalsim/Ryu is a very potent team also.
Like I said, Blanka builds meter and gets the other guy used to defending. When Dhalsim comes in, if the other guy keeps trying to play defensively, he'll have a hard time hurting me since Dhalsim is so great at keepaway. Also, Dhalsim's crouching fierce is a total fireball punisher! The teleport is useful for getting out of corner traps, too. And Ryu, well, everyone knows why Ryu is so strong. Shin-Shoryuken, anyone? Not that I rely on that one move, but Ryu is obviously well-balanced enough to be played a variety of ways. He can adapt to mostly anything, if you play it patiently and smartly.

Well, anyway, I have to start getting ready for school today, so peace out for now.

Now, using roommate's computer. Own PC has not yet arrived. Am basically used to new lifestyle. Main things to work on are: 1) Stop procrastinating; 2) Improve at Street Fighter. However, Street Fighter training takes precedence over homework. Going insane... Since moving to Davis, started keeping daily logs in small pocket notebooks. One weekend, will write deeper thoughts. For now, just letting reader know that PerfectDru lives.
